Monroe has started construction of a new $2.6 million speculative industrial building in Monroe Corporate Center business park. Matthews Construction Co. Inc is building the 102,000-square-foot building. “The building will be a substantial tool to assist in the recruitment of industry to the city of Monroe and Union County,” says Chris Platé, executive director of Monroe-Union County Economic Development. Monroe, which has the only city-financed shell-building program in the Charlotte area, has already built and filled two spec building in Monroe Corporate Center.
