Monroe economic development chief named to statewide agency board

14 July 2017

Chris Platé, executive director of Monroe-Union County Economic Development, is a new member of the board of directors of the N.C. Economic Development Association.

He serves a three-year term on the board for the agency, which is an organization of N.C. economic-development professionals and their supporters. Platé was elected at the NCEDA annual meeting in Wrightsville Beach on June 29.

Steve Yost, NCEDA president, says the organization is fortunate to have Platé in a leadership role.

“He brings a lot of unique qualifications to the table, including his successful work developing one of the country’s most vibrant aerospace clusters,” Yost says.

Platé has led Monroe-Union County Economic Development or its predecessor since 1999.
