AEP Industries Inc. in Stallings will create 15 jobs as it adds $6 million in new equipment to its plant on Seaboard Drive.

The expansion will boost the plant's work force to 340 employees.

AEP will receive about $118,000 in incentives from the Union Board of County Commissioners in return for the investment and new jobs. Commissioners approved the grant on Monday.

Chris Platé, executive director of the Monroe Union County Economic Development, says AEP has expanded the plant several times since opening the facility in 1977.

“We are pleased and encourage to see AEP growing again,” says Lynda Paxton, mayor of Stallings.

AEP makes polyethylene films in a variety of forms, ranging from sheeting to tubing.

The company is a unit of South Hackensack, N.J.-based AEP Industries (NASDAQ: AEPI), which manufactures many types of plastic packaging products for consumers, industries and agricultural uses.
