AEP Industries Invests $5.9 million at its Stallings, NC Facility

05 December 2013

AEP Industries will invest approximately $5.9 million in new equipment at their Seaboard Drive facility in Stallings, North Carolina. This project will help retain the current 325 jobs and is expected to create 15 additional over the next few years. The Union County Board of Commissioners demonstrated their commitment to the project by approving a "STEP 2" economic development incentive grant not to exceed $118,000 in total, paid in five annual payments, at its December 2, 2013 Board of County Commissioners meeting.

"AEP Industries is very pleased to receive the support of the Union County Board of Commissioners, allowing for our continued growth at our Stallings facility," said Cory Foster, Plant Manager.

AEP Industries is a leading producer in polyethylene films, manufacturing over 15,000 types of multi-purpose and flexible packaging films. Using state of the art technology, AEP Industries can produce flexible film in nearly any form, including sheeting, tubing and cut, rolled or perforated bags. AEP Industries first located in Stallings in 1977 and has experienced several expansions since then as the company has grown.

"AEP Industries decision to continue investing in Stallings is a testament to the great quality of life and competitive business environment Union County provides to manufacturers," said Frank Aikmus, chairman of the Union County Board of Commissioners. "We are very aware that existing companies can choose where to invest and provide quality job opportunities, that’s why our focus is on strengthening the competitive climate already established in Union County."

"We are pleased and encouraged to see AEP growing again," stated Lynda Paxton, Mayor of the Town of Stallings. "This new investment is indicative of their continued success and the demand for the plastic film products manufactured at the plant. We appreciate the financial support from the county commissioners as we strive to enhance the manufacturing segment of our tax base."
