One Voice for Union County's Economic Development

Union County

Monroe and Union County have decided to join their economic development efforts to create one voice for economic development in our community.  This is a historic opportunity for the Towns, the City of Monroe, and County to develop a unified work plan for the recruitment of targeted industries that will serve all corners of Union County, North Carolina.  As stated in the Charlotte Business Journal, we will be changing the landscape of economic development in the Region.

Monroe has been the driver of Economic Development in Union County since 1996 with the development of the Monroe Corporate Center.  This 500-acre park is the only Class A industrial park in the County and one of the best in the Charlotte Region.  It houses marquis companies like United Technologies Aerospace (formerly Goodrich Corporation), Safran Turbomeca Manufacturing, Coca-Cola Bottling, SCOTT Safety, and Greiner Bio-One.  ATI Allvac, CEM, and Charlotte Pipe and Foundry are the most significant companies in the County for many reasons, but they represent the best of their industry globally.

Aerospace is the key to our strong manufacturing economy.  In 2002, the City of Monroe began to specifically and aggressively targeting aerospace companies.  Since then, Monroe is recognized internationally among those in aerospace as a center of excellence in the Southeast.  In fact, with 17 companies in a seven mile radius, Monroe has the highest geographic concentration of aerospace companies in both Carolinas.  And it continues to grow.  Cyril Bath Company announced they will be adding $2.5 million in new equipment to better serve the Boeing 787 plant in Charleston (SC), just 3 hours away.

The new opportunities in communities like Indian Trail and Stallings to Wingate and Marshville make it very exciting to be in Union County right now.  All the staff at Monroe-Union County Economic Development are ready to provide the best location for your business.
